Important Information About the 2020 ACA Health Insurance Open Enrollment
Don’t forget the open enrollment period for you to sign for health insurance ends on December 15 so you don’t have a lot of time to find the plan that’s right for you. Here is some helpful information to keep in mind as you are making your decision.
Rates – It looks like the rate increases for 2020 plans will be modest. Although significant hikes are not predicted, be prepared to shop your plan for the best coverage and pricing available.
Effective Date – A plan purchased through an exchange will not take effect until January 1, 2020. If you need coverage before then, contact me and I can help you find a short-term medical plan.
Subsidies – Premium subsidies will keep pace with the benchmark plans for each area which will vary from one part of a state to another.
Cost Sharing – Individuals eligible for cost-sharing reductions will continue to receive them.
Marketing – Last year there was limited promotion of the annual open enrollment period. The same is expected this year. If you haven’t done so already, set a reminder for yourself on December 1 to shop for a plan.
Don’t forget, we’re here to help you choose a plan that’s right for you.
